…Atlanta’s first cidery is now open!!
I recently attended a tasting at Urban Tree Cidery. If you haven’t been yet, you are in for a treat, a liquid treat.
Urban Tree Cidery is a family owned and operated cidery. It is located in Atlanta’s West Midtown area on Howell Mill Road, Urban Tree joined other craft breweries nearby in setting the foundation for the neighborhoods renewal. The Cidery is on a currently undeveloped part of the Beltline and will be actively participating in helping the Beltline to take the next steps in it’s growth.
Not only do I love their cider but I love that they have a full bar with a liquor license. This way they are able to demonstrate the diversity of cider and how it plays quite well with other spirits.
During the tasting, I tried four varieties of cider- Original, Classic, Barrel Aged, and Jalapeño Ginger (seasonal). They were all delish, which made choosing a favorite pretty difficult. I narrowed my favorites down to the Classic and the Jalapeño Ginger.
I am so excited to take my husband to Urban Tree so he can experience the ciders and wonderful atmosphere The Resuta Family has created. I hope you all have the chance to visit Urban Tree and indulge in Atlanta’s newest gem.
Let’s talk doughnuts!! I grew up in south Florida where the only doughnut shop around was Dunkin Donuts. When I moved to Atlanta, I quickly converted to a Krispy Kreme lover. Now, gourmet doughnuts are revolutionizing the doughnut industry…Why have a glazed doughnut when you can have a s’mores doughnut!!
If you are an Atlanta local, you must try Bon Glaze. My only suggestion is to go with a friend that likes to share because you will want to try all of their doughnuts and to be limited to one or two would be a disservice. I went with my husband and we ordered Meyer Lemon Glazed, Chocolate Curl, Apple Pie, Glazed, Orange Creme, S’mores, Maple Bacon, and a variety of their candied bacon (pictured left to right, top to bottom). I keep getting asked what my favorite was and I really can’t choose. The fastest to go were the Apple Pie and the Chocolate Curl, if that helps.

If it was up to me, Friendsgiving would be held monthly. Especially if Erica from Eating with Erica is hosting!
When Erica first mentioned to me that she was going to have a Friendsgiving, I was A. Super excited and B. Told her I was going to make something that had pumpkin in it. She gave me a funny look and said, “Girl, there is no cooking, it will be at a restaurant”. Worked for me! I’m not much of a cook anyways.
So, I am now spoiled and sorry friends but Friendsgiving should be held at a restaurant. Erica’s was at Einstein’s in Midtown, Atlanta; it was absolutely delicious. I’m already calling for this to be a tradition.
Erica pulled out all the stops, including a three course meal with drink pairings featuring Goza Tequila and too good to be true swag bags. Let me just tell you about these swag bags! A gift card to Spa Sydell, cutlery and a knife sharpener from Cooks Warehouse, the cutest Nicole Miller cup and saucer, Peters Brew coffee bags, an Egyptian cotton scented candle, and the list goes on…Happy day!
Coming from a girl who can make a meal off appetizers, I have become pretty picky. Einstein’s nailed it! We had tempura green beans with sriracha aioli, seared scallops with butternut spaghetti squash, crispy prosciutto, and red wine reduction, and a mushroom & brie flatbread with roasted garlic, house-pickled peppers, and arugula. I really don’t think I can pick a favorite. For my entree, I had chipotle salmon with adobo mashed potatoes, roasted corn salsa, and crispy avocado. OMG, heaven! I typically don’t like spicy food, but this dish had just the right amount of kick. This will be a dish I crave, it will be a good excuse to take my husband to Einstein’s. As for dessert, all you need to know is griddled peach pound cake with vanilla ice cream, candied pecans, and bourbon caramel. Holy yum!
To my new and fabulous friend, thank you so much for including me and throwing a friendsgiving that will never be forgotten! You throw one heck of a party!! And thank you Einstein’s for feeding us your delicious food!
