Hello San Francisco

Last weekend, I was in San Francisco for work. Typically, I see a city through its food and shopping. This trip due to the work aspect was more food based. But for anyone traveling to San Fran for the Super Bowl, hopefully this post will help you navigate the city.

Hello San Francisco

I stayed at the Westin St. Francis on Union Square. It is a great hotel that is in the center of everything. There are two towers, one is more modern and the other is on the antique side. The Westin also offers New Balance sneakers for guests to rent, I did not take advantage of this perk, but I think it is a great idea. Big perk…Goyard is basically in the hotel, I had to do some perusing. My only complaint is that the hotel coffee bar claims to serve Starbucks coffee but it is terrible!

Hello San Francisco

For the most important meal of the day, I found a couple of great coffee shops and grabbed some type of quick meal. My favorite was La Capra. Not only were their cappuccinos amazing but their pastries and toasts were delish, I even had lunch there one day. My favorite breakfast items were the Pear & Vanilla tart and the Pear & Ricotta toast. My other favorite coffee shop was Philz Coffee, they have a mojito mint iced coffee that is absolutely delicious…This coming from a non mojito or mint lover.

For lunch on Sunday, The Cavalier was recommended to me by my friend Debbie who writes Atlanta to Alys. It was a later lunch so the menu was limited but it was absolutely delish. I had the Hen Egg Hollandaise and the Brussel Sprout Chips. The brussel sprouts were probably the best I’ve ever had.

The other stand out lunch I had was from Hog Island in the Ferry Building. I had the grilled cheese and clam chowder. Both amazing and still craving! The Ferry Building is an awesome market that has lots of great restaurants and shops, definitely worth a stop or two.

When trying to be healthy, I ate at Tender Greens which was always consistent and yummy. Like I said earlier, I ate at La Capra for lunch on day and had the best egg salad sandwich of my life. It had picked jalapeños, radishes, and cucumbers on it and was to die for!

Up next, dinner. You know it is a good trip when you didn’t have a bad meal. I was usually with a group of people when I went out to dinner and we ordered family style so I was able to try many different items, none disappointed. In order to not bore you with a list of entrees and ingredients I am going to list off the restaurant and my favorite menu item.

Foreign Cinema– Beef Sirloin Carpaccio

Blowfish Sushi– Pyramid of Tartare

Slanted Door– California Yellowtail topped with Bacon // Moscow Mule

Bon Marché– Ravioli of Autumn Greens // Mushroom Beignets

A notable rooftop bar is El Techo. regrettably, I did not eat there but it looked amazing.

Unfortunately, I did not have much time to go shopping but I did stop by Cuyana. I bought this oxblood pouch that I plan on using as a clutch. Prior to going to San Fran I did some research and these were the boutiques on my list Two Skirts, Ambiance, and Luna Boutique.

Hello San Francisco

Hope you enjoyed!
